Brewster is a town in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States, Barnstable County being coextensive with Cape Cod. The population of Brewster was 9,820 at the 2010 census.Brewster is twinned with the town of Budleigh Salterton in the United Kingdom. The Council on Aging Board consists of Brewster residents who advocate for seniors to help maximize their independence and quality of life. They support programs and services to meet seniors’ health, economic, intellectual, social, and cultural needs. The following services are offered to Seniors to help maintain the age-friendliness of the community.
- NAUSET NEIGHBORS: A volunteer, non-profit organization can help with small things that make it possible to remain independent at home, by providing one-call-does-it-all assistance with certain challenges of daily living and improving access to transportation for medical appointments, shopping, social, educational and cultural opportunities.
- PROJECT LIFESAVER: The Brewster Police Department has joined the Orleans and Eastham Police Departments as participants in Project Lifesaver. These police departments have fielded a new piece of equipment and developed procedures to provide a larger safety net for individuals with Alzheimer’s living.
- S.H.I.N.E. (Serving Health Insurance Needs of the Elderly): Every Tuesday from 1pm to 3:15pm. Highly trained volunteer counselors help seniors and Medicare beneficiaries understand their rights and benefits under Medicare and all other health insurance coverage.
